Protocols: Poster Preparation
Guidelines for use of the HP5000 Poster Printer
Documents are best prepared in either PowerPoint or Adobe Illustrator. It is recommended that posters be prepared on a PC; however, Mac documents can be printed as well. The latter must be checked carefully before printing to ensure that the formatting and special characters have translated correctly.
Set the document size to the final size you want for your poster.
Note: The paper in the printer is 42" wide. Allowing for 1" margins on either side, this means that the poster can be a maximum of 40" in one direction. The other dimension can be as long as you require. With image rotation, we can print the poster in either portrait or landscape.
PowerPoint
To set up the document in PowerPoint, go to slide > Custom size > and enter your dimensions.
Adobe Illustrator
In Adobe Illustrator, set the art board to the size you require.
Place the finished document on the H drive (your network drive) or in one of the shared areas (LVD-Share, LPD-Share, LCMI-Share, etc.).
Please arrange to come up to check your document before printing. Printing of your poster should be doneĀ 2 days before you depart for your meeting (just in case there is a problem).
