Preclinical and Clinical Research Resources
Clinical research is a rigorous process of testing the safety and efficacy of candidate vaccines, diagnostics, and therapies. Only those candidates that have performed exceptionally through basic and precinical research are approved for clinical trials in humans, and only a small number of those succeed through the many phases and approvals involved in ultimately bringing a product to the market.
NIAID offers tools to assist investigators through clinical research, from primary services such as management, evaluation, and education to supplementary support of the research, protocol policies, and standards. NIAID also offers opportunities for collaboration through existing networks that help to accelerate the clinical development of therapies, vaccines, and diagnostics.
