Operations and Engineering Branch
The Operations and Engineering Branch (OEB) provides technical and tactical cyber technologies (CT) management and support for NIAID extramural biomedical research programs.
OEBÂ delivers essential and assured services to facilitate communication using electronic systems and a collegial, authorized, and accessible framework for automated information sharing and collaboration, including shared network applications and Internet access.
OEBÂ responsibilities include:
- Providing technology support to NIAID biodefense areas through the use of performance standards and strict adherence to security assurance procedures
- Employing CT methodology comprising a consolidated integrated optimized systems approach, incorporating multidisciplinary teams of science program managers and technologists
- Providing support for special access to extranet knowledge-information-data systems hosted on NIAID Internet, intranet, and extranet Web servers
- Ensuring compliance with Capability Maturity Model Integration
- Throughout the Cyber Technologies Program:
- Managing the life-cycle program for the extramural community
- Developing and implementing standards for extramural configuration and workstations
- Defining standards and managing and implementing Information Systems Security measures
- Identifying and estimating requisite attributes of the work products and tasks
- Determining resources needed, negotiating commitments, and developing a schedule
- Controlling changes to configuration items and providing accurate status and current configuration data
