NIAID Appropriations History: FY 2002 – FY 2011

Each year, NIAID submits a funding request to Congress for the coming fiscal year. This request provides the Senate and House Appropriations Committees detailed estimates and justifications for research and research support activities that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) would anticipate funding at the President's Budget Request level. Congress deliberates on, and subsequently passes, an amended budget, which indicates the amount that NIH and other government agencies will receive. This amount is known as the appropriation.
