Chief, Bacterial Pathogenesis Unit, LCID
The Bacterial Pathogenesis Unit has the goal of understanding how host-bacteria interactions shape subsequent immune responses and using this knowledge to modulate and optimize host defense. We are using cellular, animal model, and patient-based studies to investigate the following areas:
Sandip Datta received his M.D. from University of California, San Francisco, in 1996. He then completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in infectious diseases at University of California, San Diego (UCSD), including postdoctoral training with Dr. Eyal Raz. Dr. Datta was appointed as assistant professor of medicine at UCSD in 2004. In February 2008, he joined the LCID as tenure-track chief of the newly formed Bacterial Pathogenesis Unit.
