International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMR)
Nearly one million people die of malaria every year, mostly infants and young children, and more than 40 percent of the world’s population lives in malaria-endemic regions. NIAID established the International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMRs), a global network of independent research centers in malaria-endemic settings, to provide the knowledge, tools, and evidence-based strategies crucial to understanding, controlling, and, ultimately, preventing malaria.
