NIAID Town Hall Meetings and Workshops

In April 2012, NIAID issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) designed to solicit applications for the Clinical Trials Units (CTUs). To assist potential CTU applicants, NIAID hosted three grantsmanship workshops focused on the grant application and review process. Theworkshops were held July 28–29, 2012 in Washington, D.C., Aug. 16–18, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Oct. 25–27, 2012 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

On March 7, 2011, NIAID hosted a public meeting at the Bethesda Marriott in Bethesda, Maryland, to discuss the development of a non-HIV/AIDS Leadership Group focused on bacterial antibiotic resistance, with the ability to rapidly address emerging infectious diseases.

On October 26, 2010, NIAID hosted a town hall meeting in Arlington, Virginia, to discuss the future of the HIV/AIDS Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Networks. NIAID and its collaborating partners from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) presented key aspects of the new networks with a focus on potential changes in research priorities and network structure, opportunities for collaborations, and general information on the application process.
