NIAID's Response to the Recovery Act
<< previous · NIAID and the Economic Recovery Act · next >>
NIAID received an astounding $1.12 billion in two-year stimulus funds, a striking act of generosity and confidence on the part of our elected leaders.
We, together with our extramural research community, are truly grateful to President Barack Obama and the Congress for this unprecedented opportunity to fund high-quality research, create and save jobs, and boost the economy.
Spending in FY 2009
NIAID is responding by awarding hundreds of peer-reviewed grants. In FY 2009, that meant 936 awards worth more than $300 million, broken down as follows:

About Recovery.gov
In keeping with President Obama's commitment to openness in government, agencies are making their activities and spending transparent to the public.
His administration set up the Recovery.gov site where you can figure out where the money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is going.
President Obama called Recovery.gov "an online portal . . . for publishing information about how the funding secured by the legislation will be spent in a timely, targeted, and transparent manner." |
|
As the data come in, you can see how, when, and where the money was spent.
Award recipients started report quarterly in October 2009. Read more in the Standard Terms and Conditions for ARRA Awards and the NOT-OD-09-080 Guide notice.
