NIAID Grants Management Training for U.S. Grantees With Foreign Subcomponents

Date: April 16 to 18, 2013

Location: NIH Neuroscience Center
6001 Executive Plaza Blvd. Rockville, MD 20852

Join NIAID for a three-day workshop that will be highly informative, interactive, and a unique opportunity for investigators and grants management administrators to work one-on-one with NIAID staff.

Participants will include grants management specialists and policy leaders, as well as program administrators (U.S. and non-U.S.). The training will focus on useful tips and resources that grantees need to successfully manage a NIH grant such as how to prepare a progress report, information for subcontractors, how to prepare for an NIAID foreign organization system review, and more.

There will also be breakout sessions and hands-on forms completion training, which will give participants the opportunity to explore the subject matter. Topics will include:

  • Research project costs—allowable and unallowable.
  • Actions that can delay the disbursement of grant funds.
  • Payment Management System (effective October 2012 for foreign awardees).
  • NIAID select agents policy.
  • Interactive sessions—how to properly complete NIH and DHHS required funding reports.
  • Requirements for subcontracting research with foreign collaborators.
  • Tips on how to prepare for a NIAID foreign organization systems review.

NIAID-funded institutions are urged to send representatives to this training. Scientists and administrators at foreign subcomponents are also welcome to attend. Topics that will be presented would be most useful for grants program administrators or business office staff who manage NIH grants, and research investigators who do not have a business office to manage their awards.

The training will be held at the NIH Neuroscience Center, 6001 Executive Plaza Blvd., Rockville, MD, from April 16 to 18, 2013.
