To make funding decisions for most investigator-initiated applications, NIAID uses a percentile or score-based cutoff payline reflecting the scientific merit as judged by peer reviewers. All applications that score at or below the payline indicated in the table below will be funded.
For requests for applications (RFA), NIAID funds mostly in overall impact/priority score order until all RFA funds are allocated.
Paylines are determined by balancing projected grant numbers, grant budgets, and NIAID’s total budget for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program.
See NIAID Paylines for paylines by grant type.
The table below shows NIAID SBIR/STTR paylines by fiscal year.
*NIAID SBIR/STTR Paylines for FY 2015 are for applications reviewed for the September 2014, January 2015, and May 2015 Council meetings.
