This SOP has internal roles only.

Lock icon: This link will not work for public visitors. Some links will work for NIAID staff only.

This standard operating procedure (SOP) includes the following sections: Purpose, Procedure, Contacts, and Links.

Purpose

To house data on extramural applications received (funded and unfunded).

  • Request IMPAC II access as follows:
    • Program division staff (DAIDS, DAIT, and DMID), go through your division coordinator.
    • Non-program division staff, request comes from your federal manager or federal supervisor.

Procedure

Only government staff can access information in IMPAC II.

Requests for access for program division staff (DAIDS, DAIT, and DMID) go through your division coordinator who submits requests to the NIAID IC coordinators. Non-program division staff, requests go through your federal manager or federal supervisor who submits requests to the IC coordinators.

The IC coordinators also review accounts that have been inactive for more than 130 days and verify whether they are still necessary.

NIAID Staff

IMPAC II combines a relational database with query tools and business function modules. Only government staff can access information in IMPAC II.

  • Request access through your IC coordinators.
    • For NIAID program divisions (DAIDS, DAIT, and DMID), requests for access come from the division coordinator who will contact the IC coordinators.
    • Non-program division staff requests come from your federal manager or federal supervisor.
    • If requestor is a contractor, requests for access come from the federal manager, branch chief, or division coordinator and are to be accompanied by the completed, signed Request for eRA/IMPAC II Account form.
  • New this year: an additional requirement for IC coordinators to review all accounts that have been inactive for more than 130 days and to verify if the accounts are still necessary.

Use IMPAC II to track and review data on grants and grant applications, including summary statements. Summary statements cannot be emailed to PIs. Instead, encourage them to register with the eRA Commons where they can view statements online.

To log into the eRA Modules, one of which is the QVR (Query View Report) system, insert your PIV card and enter your pin. NIH has made the two-factor authentication mandatory.
