NIAID's standard operating procedures (SOP) spell out roles and actions for initiatives, grants, contracts, review, and Council activities for the following purposes:
SOPs briefly describe a topic's purpose, give staff contact information, and provide procedures to follow, usually including staff and investigator roles. Focusing on steps to accomplish a task, SOPs give links to more detailed background information on policy and regulations.
Our SOPs often do not define or spell out well-known NIH terms or acronyms.
Here's what you will see in each SOP section.

Describes procedures for staff and investigators, giving background and roles.
Gives staff contact information for the function.
Lists intranet and Internet sites and other documents that provide background on the topic.
If you have any questions about SOPs, please email email@example.com.
