Standard Operating Procedure Table of Contents
Purpose
To assign a program class code (PCC) to NIAID competing grant applications for their scientific and administrative management.
Procedure
After the Center for Scientific Review (CSR) assigns a competing grant application to the Institute, NIAID's Referral and Program Analysis Branch (RPAB) assigns it a PCC based on Institute referral guidelines. The PCC indicates an extramural scientific program, a category of research, and the assigned program officer.
Referral and Program Analysis Branch Staff
- Give unsolicited applications a PCC that has been established by an extramural program division.
- If an application is solicited, assign it to the sponsoring division.
- Enter PCCs into the Receipt and Assignment Database within 5 business days after receipt to give program staff time to review an application before initial peer review. Occasionally this may take more time due to extraordinary circumstances, such as an unexpected increase in numbers of applications.
- Upload PCCs to IMPAC each night.
