Coronaviruses Surveillance

Between September 2012 and November 2013, nations in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa reported more than 150 cases of a new human illness called Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). About half of the confirmed cases ended in death. The World Health Organization (WHO) is coordinating efforts with researchers to develop treatments and to determine whether MERS has extended its reach beyond these geographical regions.
