Symptoms

Symptoms usually appear 7 to 10 days after being bitten and include a sudden high fever with chills, sweats, and head and body aches. Other possible symptoms include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dry cough, an aversion to bright lights, rash, neck pain, eye pain, confusion, and dizziness.

Reoccurring fever is a hallmark of relapsing fever, with episodes lasting up to 3 days and then returning within two weeks.
