NIAID issued a new notice of special interest (NOSI) to encourage small research project and small business grant applications on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Apply for a cooperative agreement award to study immune mechanisms and regulation at mucosal surfaces of the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urogenital tracts.

Consider applying if you want to participate in a clinical studies/clinical trials program to improve outcomes of recipients of thoracic or abdominal organ transplants, vascularized composite allografts, or cell replacement allografts.

The Lasker Clinical Research Scholars Program combines a period of research experience as a tenure-track investigator in NIH’s Intramural Research Program (IRP) with additional years of independent support, either within IRP or at an extramural research institution.

NIAID is participating in a notice of special interest that encourages currently funded grantees to seek administrative supplements for new research focused on maternal mortality. We are most interested in projects centered on infection and immunity.

This spring, NIAID received a total of $1.532 billion from Congress to support our research response to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). For perspective, NIAID's annual appropriation for fiscal year 2020 was $5.885 billion.

You may have noticed that NIH reissued most parent funding opportunity announcements over the past month. Doing so is part of the process for transitioning from one application form set to another; in this case, switching from FORMS-E to FORMS-F on May 25, 2020.

NIAID staff worked with several stakeholders to develop and endorse the Transparency, Responsibility, User focus, Sustainability, and Technology (TRUST) Principles, which serve as a common framework to facilitate communication among stakeholders and implement best practices in digital preservation.

Check out NIH's COVID-19 Portfolio, a repository that contains expert-curated, peer-reviewed articles from PubMed and preprints, and two survey item platforms that collate and standardize COVID-19 related survey items and investigator contact information.

Advice Corner

All NIH-funded clinical trials must be registered in the ClinicalTrials.gov database, with results submitted in a timely manner. In addition, updates to study records should be prompt, including updates in the recruitment status or completion date of a clinical trial.
