Updated May 29, 2019. We set the fiscal year paylines for R03 and R21 at 31 overall impact score.
Paylines are the funding cutoff points for grant applications. Following the paylines, NIAID funds most applications in percentile (for R01s only) or overall impact score order (for others). Each fiscal year, NIAID sets the initial paylines conservatively and may fund additional applications beyond the paylines at the end of a fiscal year.
