The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest Institutes at the National Institutes of Health, seeks to fill upcoming vacancies for several grants management specialist positions in the Grants Management Program (GMP), in the Division of Extramural Activities (DEA). GMP is responsible for the administrative management of all NIAID extramural grant support of research and research training. GMP also interprets grants policies as they relate to the grant award process and advises scientific program staff on the full range of technical grants management issues. Visit Grants Management Program to learn more about the DEA GMP.

Highly-motivated, talented, and qualified candidates can join the NIAID scientific and administrative staff, who quickly address evolving public health needs. Great additions to enhance that collaboration include good analytical and communication skills.

On a day-to-day basis, Grants Management Specialists participate in the planning and business management of grants and renewal applications, including the negotiation of the budget, award period, and terms and conditions for grant awards; monitor all phases of awards through closing; and evaluate budget justifications and financial arrangements to ensure responsible stewardship of funds. Additionally, on-the-job training is provided to supplement the knowledge base needed to perform the daily responsibilities.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens. A full package of benefits is available, including retirement; health, life, and long-term care insurance; annual and sick leave; and a thrift savings plan (401K equivalent).
