The New Strategic Vision for NIAID

In a new commentary, NIH and NIAID leaders describe their vision for reforming the institute by shifting its focus to two strategic aims: Address the most impactful infectious diseases that Americans currently face with evidence from gold standard science; and support innovative research to address fundamental studies in immunology and allergic and autoimmune diseases to improve patient outcomes.

Mission
NIAID conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.
Vision
NIAID's vision is to improve human health through an integrated, holistic approach to immune-mediated and infectious disease research.
