stage indicator - apply for a grant

Additional Application Elements

Add a Bibliography and Appendix

Put your research plans in scientific context for your reviewers and convince them that you know your field by citing wisely in your application and including a Bibliography and appropriate Appendix materials.

Create Biosketches

Include a biographical sketch for every person who plays a substantive role in your research. That includes consultants and technical staff, even if they are not paid a salary from the grant.

Types of Letters for Grant Applications

Know when and how you should provide a letter of intent, cover letter, letters of support, reference letters, and more.

Create a Resource Sharing Plan

Your application may need to include a plan for sharing model organisms, final research data, or data or other information related to genome-wide association studies.

Use the PHS Assignment Request Form

Use the optional PHS Assignment Request Form to list expertise needed to review your application, exclude reviewers, and request an institute assignment.

Have Questions?

A program officer in your area of science can give you application advice, NIAID's perspective on your research, and confirmation that NIAID will accept your application.

Find contacts and instructions at When to Contact an NIAID Program Officer.
