Radiation Safety at the Integrated Research Facility

These are the functions of the radiation safety program:

  • Ensuring safe exposure of personnel to radioactive materials by monitoring personnel exposure and potential contamination of laboratory surfaces
  • Providing sufficient shielding from radiation during receiving, storage, transport, and dispensing of radioactive materials
  • Recording procurement, use, disposal, and transfer of radioactive materials used in studies
  • Enacting facility-specific nuclear safety policies and procedures that comply with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and National Institutes of Health radiation policies
