A new continuing resolution (CR) gives NIH and other parts of the federal government budget authority to continue operating through Friday, December 18, 2020.

To avoid shutdown, U.S. lawmakers and the President must finalize fiscal year (FY) 2021 omnibus appropriations (or another CR) before the December 18 deadline. Because this article went to press on December 16, we suggest that you check public news sources in the coming weeks for further updates on budget legislation.

In October 2020, NIAID published its FY 2021 Financial Management Plan and set interim NIAID Paylines for research project grants (R01), small grants (R03), research enhancement awards (R15), exploratory/developmental grants (R21), and small business awards (R41, R42, R43, and R44). To subscribe for payline alerts, go to NIAID Email Updates, open the Research Funding category, and choose Paylines.
