At the end of this month, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of NIAID, will step down from the role he’s held since 1984. As he stated in an August 22, 2022 news release, “While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring. After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field.”

His departure should not prompt any changes to NIAID’s extramural funding procedures.

NIH is conducting a nationwide search to find the Institute’s next Director. You can read and share the Job Announcement Description.
