In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, NIH extended its flexibility for investigators to send certain post-submission materials, as announced in the August 12, 2020 Guide notice Extending the Special Exception to the NIH/AHRQ/NIOSH Post-Submission Material Policy During the COVID-19 Pandemic and the September 30, 2020 Guide notice Extending the Special Exception to the NIH/AHRQ/NIOSH Post-Submission Material Policy During the COVID-19 Pandemic: August/October 2021 Councils.
For applications submitted for the May 2021 Council round (beginning with the September 25, 2020 due date for Spring 2021 review meetings) or the August 2021 Council round (beginning with the January 25, 2020 due date for Summer 2021 review meetings), NIH will accept a one-page update with preliminary data as an allowable post-submission material, so long as the targeted funding opportunity announcement (FOA) allows preliminary data normally.
Determine Your Deadline
The deadline for submitting all post-submission materials is 30 days before the study section meeting. To find out when that is for your application, follow NIH’s instructions at Tracking Your Application to check your application status and study section meeting date in eRA Commons.
You must receive concurrence from your authorized organizational representative before submitting post-submission materials.
