No, NIAID’s grant funding policy does not allow unjustified direct cost escalations.

If, during your project period, prices for supplies, equipment, or personnel (cost of living) increase due to inflation, NIAID will not provide additional funding; instead, you’ll need to rebudget using your existing funds.

For significant, unanticipated price increases that occur during your grant’s project period, above and beyond any inflationary cost increases, you may request an administrative supplement. Keep in mind, your request will need to be well-justified based on your project’s research aims and the cost increase’s impact on your budget.
