- Research Project Grant (Parent R01, Clinical Trial Required)
- NIH Small Research Grant Program (Parent R03, Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
- NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Program (Parent R21, Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
- NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Program (Parent R21, Clinical Trial Required)
The new expiration date corresponds with implementation of the FORMS-I form set and related policy changes, which take effect on January 25, 2025, as described in this issue’s feature article. Refer to the April 11, 2024 Guide notice.
Consider a New Perspective on Writing with Narrative Structure for Grant Applications
The PNAS Perspective article Elements of Successful NIH Grant Applications takes an esoteric view of how grant writing depends on strong story-telling, in addition to a concrete scientific approach. The authors share unconventional advice on writing to engage an application’s audience and accepting news of an unfunded application with stoicism.
Remember May 27 Deadline for Input on NIAID’s Next Strategic Plan
Through Request for Information (RFI): Inviting Comments and Suggestions on NIAID’s Strategic Plan, we invite feedback from the extramural research community on the scientific topics that will drive our Strategic Plan for the next 5 years. The Plan will likely be built around five research priorities (e.g., Apply knowledge of HIV/AIDS to reduce HIV incidence through the development of safe and effective prevention, treatment, and cure strategies) and several cross-cutting themes (e.g., health disparities).
