NIH seeks input from the broader scientific research community on effective health communication research through the Request for Information (RFI): Challenges and Opportunities in Health and Science Communication Research.
NIH hopes to identify important research opportunities, challenges, methods, approaches, and technologies to enable the future study of health and science communication. You are invited to comment on research needs in the following domains:
- Communication research to enhance access, equitable uptake, and meaningful use of evidence-based health information
- Understanding and improving health and science literacy
- Understanding and reducing the spread and impact of health misinformation
Research Program Virtual Workshop
NIH is also conducting planning activities to inform a potential Common Fund research program to support developing, assessing, and implementing novel approaches to address health and science communication in a changing sociocultural landscape.

To submit feedback, go to the Challenges and Opportunities in Health and Science Communication Research webpage by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, May 27, 2022. Responses to this RFI are voluntary and may be submitted anonymously. Organizations are strongly encouraged to submit a single, collective response.
Do not include any personally identifiable information or any information you do not wish to make public. Do not include any proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information in your responses.
