Congress restricts the amount of direct salary paid to an individual under an HHS grant, cooperative agreement, or applicable contract. Effective January 1, 2023, the salary limitation is set at a rate of $212,100 for 100 percent effort. An institution may pay beyond the cap using non-award funds.
