NIH seeks public comments and suggestions on a draft framework for the NIH Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity Strategic Plan Draft: Fiscal Years 2022-2026. The Strategic Plan communicates how the Office of the Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity (COSWD) will advance its mission of scientific workforce diversity using evidence-based approaches to catalyze inclusivity. COSWD anticipates releasing a final version of the Strategic Plan in spring 2022.
The draft Strategic Plan outlines three goals—to build, disseminate, and act on empirical, data-driven evidence to advance scientific workforce diversity—and how the Office will leverage corresponding objectives and tactics to achieve each of these goals.
Request for Comments
As announced in the January 12, 2022 Guide notice, NIH invites input from the scientific community as well as the public on the following topics:
- Benefits, challenges, or additional goals to the three key goals outlined in the Strategic Plan
- Cross-cutting strategies—collaboration, accountability, and evaluation that NIH can use to pursue its goals
- Objectives to support each of the three goals, including benefits, challenges, or alternative or additional goals for consideration
- General comments that would help inform how COSWD directs efforts to achieve its mission over the next five years
