Biography
Vanitha Raman is a Scientific Review Officer at the Immunology Review Branch in the Scientific Review Program at NIAID. Dr. Raman received her B.Sc. degree in Zoology from the University of Madras and her Masters in Life Sciences from Pondicherry University. Her interest in immunology stemmed from an article on the immune response to self vs. non-self and consequently led her to apply for a Ph.D. degree in Immunology at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, India. Since then, she has accumulated 20+ years of experience on humoral immunity, innate immunity, infectious disease immunology, adjuvant biology, and vaccinology. She has extensive experience and knowledge of basic immunology and the application of her skills to developing vaccines and immunotherapies against infectious diseases, such as leishmania, leprosy, influenza, and malaria, as well as to studying the immunology of gene therapy in rare diseases.
