Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio
Project Title: Essential Functions of the Mitochondrion in Malaria Parasites
Award Year: 2024

Biography
Dr. Krithika Rajaram is a microbiologist interested in the biology of medically important intracellular pathogens. She earned her Ph.D. from Indiana University, where she developed genetic tools to study chlamydial pathogenesis. During her postdoctoral training at the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute, she applied omics and molecular genetic approaches to investigate the metabolic capabilities of the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. Now an Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University, her research focuses on characterizing metabolic pathways in P. falciparum, particularly those associated with the parasite’s relict plastid and highly divergent mitochondrion.
