If you are a foreign grant administrator, don’t miss three new G11 Sample Grant Applications and a refresher on the associated NIAID funding opportunity Global Infectious Disease Research Administration Development Award for Low- and Middle-Income Country Institutions (G11, Clinical Trial Not Allowed).

G11 Sample Grant Applications and Summary Statements

Three new high-scoring, successful G11 samples reflect excellent grantsmanship and serve as educational resources for other applicants and award administrators.

On behalf of the applicant community and NIAID, we offer sincere thanks to the grantees and principal investigators who generously agreed to share the following:

Investigator, Institution, and Application Title Resources

Oye Nana Akuffo, M.B.A., of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana, Legon

“Capacity Building for Enhanced Research Administration (CaBERA- II) in Africa”

Full Application Summary Statement

Andres Jaramillo Zuluaga, M.B.A., Centro Internacional de Entrenamiento e Investigaciones Medicas (CIDEIM)

“Implementing Strategies for Building Capacity in Research Administration at CIDEIM, and Subsequent Dissemination Within Colombia and the Latin American Region”

Full Application Summary Statement

Stella Kakeeto, M.B.A., Makerere University

Full Application Summary Statement

Their well-written application approaches may give you ideas for how you could effectively present your Specific Aims, Research Strategy, and other text sections.

Be aware that these applications reflect the older Forms-E version of the SF 424 and instructions. Do not use them as a model for how to complete forms. For example, they will not reflect the Forms-G Significant Changes or current rules for Other Support and Biosketch Format. Your application must follow the appropriate instructions in your funding opportunity announcement (FOA) and the latest NIH SF 424 Application Guide.

G11 Funding Opportunity

Through the FOA Global Infectious Disease Research Administration Development Award for Low- and Middle-Income Country (LMIC) Institutions (G11, Clinical Trial Not Allowed), NIAID continues to support the training of senior administrators in LMICs and empower them to serve as institutional grants management leaders.

You can also check the FOA Questions and Answers and Webinar. Although both resources refer to the 2018 version of the FOA, the information is still relevant for the current one.
