The primary objective is to assess the effect of pre-transplant (Tx) Triplex vaccination on duration of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) antiviral therapy (AVT) within the first 100 days post-Tx in CMV seropositive donor (D+) and seronegative (R-) (D+R-) liver transplant recipients (LTxRs).
The objective of this study is to better understand the needs of people living with HIV (PLWH) with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), learning whether PLWH with PTSD find this treatment acceptable and helpful, and to begin to understand the relationship between HIV-related health factors (e.g., inflammation and stress biology) and PTSD, and how these health factors may improve during treatment.

A Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating various additional COVID-19 booster shots has begun enrolling adult participants in the United States. The trial aims to understand if different vaccine regimens—prototype and variant vaccines alone and in combinations—can broaden immune responses in adults who already have received a primary vaccination series and a first booster shot. The study, known as the COVID-19 Variant Immunologic Landscape (COVAIL) trial, is sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health.

Scientists at NIAID developed a new tool to help identify geographic hot spots for Aedes mosquitoes, a type of mosquito that can spread diseases such as dengue, Zika and chikungunya. The tool uses a marker from blood serum to identify people bitten by Aedes mosquitoes. Monitoring for this marker in blood samples could help find sites where disease-carrying mosquitoes live, allowing for targeted interventions against dengue and other diseases.
