Current AADCRC Projects

AADCRC investigators conduct clinical research studies on asthma and allergic diseases, as well as respiratory infections, to explore:

  • Multi-omic approaches to post-GWAS discovery in asthma
  • Combination biologics and immunotherapy to treat multi-food allergy
  • Viral, host, and environmental determinants of respiratory viral illness severity and of infant/childhood allergy and asthma pathogenesis
  • The role of the epithelium and mucosal and innate immunity in allergic inflammation and asthma
  • Therapy and mechanisms in aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease, a severe form of nasal polyposis and asthma
  • Mechanisms of atopic dermatitis and progression of atopic diseases
  • The immune basis and clinical implications of threshold-based phenotypes in peanut allergy

The AADCRC program is conducting or has recently completed the following clinical trials and observational studies (see ClinicalTrials.gov for more information on individual clinical trials; observational studies are not included in ClinicalTrials.gov):

  • Immune Basis and Clinical Implications of Threshold-based Phenotypes of Peanut Allergy (CAFETERIA): NCT03907397
  • Clinical Study Using Biologics to Improve Multi OIT Outcomes (COMBINE): NCT03679676
  • Mechanisms of Benefit of IL4RA Inhibition in Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (MARINER): NCT05575037
  • Infant Susceptibility to Pulmonary Infections and Asthma Following RSV Exposure (INSPIRE) Observational Study
  • Childhood Allergy and the NeOnatal Environment Ancillary Study of the Impact of Respiratory Viral Illness on the Airway Epithelium and Microbiome (CANOE-VU)
  • Wisconsin Infant Study Cohort with Traditional Agrarian Families (WISC+) and Microbial Associated Respiratory Illnesses (MARI)
  • Mechanisms of Progression of Atopic Dermatitis to Asthma in Children (MPAACH)
  • Zooming Into Old Order Mennonites (ZOOM)
