The Research Technologies Branch (RTB) provides researchers with access to advanced technologies and specialized expertise to address complex biological problems through a highly effective and integrated approach. Breakthroughs in optics, lasers, and computational biology have revolutionized fields like microscopy, flow cytometry, spatial transcriptomics, genomics, and proteomics. These technologies necessitate integration and the expertise of specialized scientists to adapt them to the diverse research needs of the Institute. RTB supports the NIH research programs by implementing state-of-the-art technologies and project-specific applications in collaboration with researchers, utilizing facilities in Bethesda and Rockville, Maryland, and Hamilton, Montana. RTB’s resources include biological imaging, protein chemistry, lipidomic and metabolomics, electron microscopy, structural biology, flow cytometry, visual and medical arts, genetics and genomics, and integrated data sciences. By collaborating with NIH investigators, RTB provides customized resources tailored to the specific research needs of each investigator.
