- Division of AIDS. Research areas of interest relate to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, detection, and drug development.

- Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Research areas of interest include the detection of infectious diseases, diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines.
- Office of Biodefense Research and Surety. Topics are related to the development of therapeutics/medical countermeasures to protect against, mitigate, and treat the short- and long-term adverse health effects of deliberate and/or accidental exposure to highly toxic DHS-designated Chemicals of Concern.
