The Office of Data Science and Emerging Technologies (ODSET) has offered a variety of opportunities and opened many doors to successful futures in Data Science. Both fellows and employees who work with ODSET, launch exciting careers in data science and related fields. The following people have worked with NIAID in developing and executing its data science strategy across its entire global portfolio of research and training programs. Ishwar Chandramouliswaran, M.S., M.B.A.
Ishwar was Program Team Lead and later Deputy Director of ODSET before transitioning in 2021 to a role as Program Director in the Office of Data Science Strategy at the NIH.
Maria Giovanni, Ph.D.
Dr. Giovanni served as the acting director of ODSET in 2017, before briefly leaving the federal government then returning as a Data Science Consultant. Since the fall of 2022, she has been working as a Data Science Consultant for the Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology at NIAID.
Jane Lockmuller, M.S.
After a long and prosperous career at the NIH, Jane served as a Senior Advisor in ODSET for several years before retiring in the summer of 2022.
Chris Marcum, Ph.D.
While on detail with ODSET from NHGRI, Dr. Marcum served as the Genomic Program Administrator for NIAID. Since early 2022, he has been serving as the Assistant Director for Open Science and Data Policy for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Steve Tsang, Ph.D.
Dr. Tsang was a Health Scientist with ODSET before transitioning to the Office of Data Science Strategy at the NIH as a Health Scientist Administrator in early 2022.
