Scientific Review Program

Key Functions

  • Conducts peer review for applications and proposals that address NIAID-specific needs, i.e., research project (R01); program projects (Ps); cooperative agreements (Us); research career awards (Ks); institutional training grants (Ts); conference grants (R13s); and contracts (N01s) in response to NIAID-initiated RFAs, PAs, RFPs, PARs, and BAAs
  • Plays a critical role to conduct review meetings for four chartered review committees and special emphasis panels
  • Participates in iniative development for scientific peer review
  • Performs quality control from the scientific peer review perspective for funding opportunity announcements
  • Serves as program divisions' contact for review of NIAID initiatives
  • Formulates and guides peer review strategies
  • Coordinates review activities with Office of Committee Management
  • Conducts grantsmanship/outreach seminars for the community
